My Chevin Cross memories

The first year it was there I was in hospital in 1968 giving birth to my eldest daughter.

Suddenly the lady in the bed opposite said, “Why are you leaning?”

It was because as I was looking at the Cross on top of the Chevin, which was easily visible from the Maternity Ward window, the Cross slowly fell sideways.

It had to be erected again the following day.

I do not know if the Cross has ever fallen again as I have been away from this area and have only recently returned.

However, it was ever so weird watching it all so slowly.
