My Chevin Cross memories

Dr R W Fearn, Cookridge

From Chevin Top

From Chevin top, looking down
Lies at the foot Otley town
All Saints tower stands not too high
The River Wharfe chuckles by.

In Otley town, looking up
Can be seen on Chevin top
At Eastertide a wooden cross
Reminder of man’s great loss.

On Saturday morn, in market square
People, stall, everywhere
Near Victoria’s Jubilee Clock
With seats around people flock
A quiet spell when shopping’s done
To have a chat and enjoy the sun.
