Hannah's Silverstone Testing Page (27th April 2006)
My name is Hannah, and this is my Silverstone Page.
This page is all about my day trip to Silverstone in 2006!
THIS PAGE STARTED ON THE 2ND JULY 2006
27th April 2006
After last year, and going on my own, my friend Samuel (Sam), had said that he'd like to go if he didn't have college.
This year the F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone was happening earlier (June) due to the World Cup, which in turn ment that the free testing was earlier too (testing normanally happens the first week of June!).
We arrived at 10:30am -10:45am
It started at 10am, but with the M1 closed due to an accident, we had to work out
a different route! -and we got lost!
As we were entering the car park, you could hear the cars, we were buzzing! Sam
was running about like a little happy school kid!
We got our tickets, and entered in by Bridge, we stood there at Bridge A stand for
a while watching the cars zooming fast, with our digital camera's in our hands the
rest of the day was spent with trying to snap pics of the cars!
We then stood at Luffield (theres no seats -standing only) watching the cars go
through the chicane, before moving to the pit straight stands where we sat for
ages, talking, taking pictures and even videoing the cars!
Sam was very sneeky -he brought his monoculer with him (like a telescope) which he
was able to fit on the end of his camera lens (by pure chance -wouldn't on mine!)
and bingo... a better picture of the cars!
a few time we saw the red pit straight lights come on to signal an accident.
The weather was a little cold, so we had to put our jackets on!
After a long time sitting looking at Luffield corner, we moved to the other end of
the stand so we could see Copes corner, and the Honda garage, watching Barrichello
and Jenson Button!
Afte sitting there we went to Copse corner and stood watching, for a bit, before
heading back to the car for lunch at about 1:15pm
After 45 mins of lunch, it was back to the track!
watching, videoing and snapping all the cars!
We stayed at Silverstone, until 3:15pm, although the cars would be there till 5pm,
Sam had a function to attend, so with that I brought a coffee, and we stood at
Luffield, some last videos were taken and pictures, we also took a picture of each
other with a F1 cars in the background!
All I can say was it was a great day, Sunny at times but a little cold in places!
I didn't hit my head either -I was careful when ducking under railings (and Sam seemed to remind me to watch my head each time!)
I did notice all the new stands going up ready for the Grand Prix!, also lots of things had been painted which wen't last year!
Shame Ferrari were testing over in Italy, but you can't have everything work out!
And yes I will try and go back again next year!
