Hannah's Silverstone Testing Page
(26th June 2008)

Hello,
I am Hannah, and welcome to Silverstone testing page, 26th June 2008.

Today I'm feeling tired, and at Silverstone on my own today, as sadly yesterday evening myself and my father drove Alison back to London as a family member had been taken ill, and didn't roll back home till 11:30pm.

I left at 8am, today was going to be the busiest day at Silverstone as Lewis Hamilton would be there....
I arrived at 8:50am, made a pit stop before standing at my favourite spot at Farm/Abbey chicane...
I felt as though lots of lads were staring at me, as I look like a pro...
The sun was out and caught it a few times glinting off the F1 cars..
after another red flag I decided just after 11am, to head down to club corner for 15 mins or so and shoot manually through the fence, I got a few good shots.. but not brilliant.. So took some random shots about the place, before heading back to my favourite spot at Abbey chicane.. getting myself a coffee on the way, leaving it down on the floor by my feet as I swapped between my G9 and 450D cameras.
I remained there until 12:50.. when I just turned my camera off as I needed to make a pitstop to the loo's.. and Sutil goes straight off the track in front of our eyes, everyones cheering.. and asking if anyone 'got that shot' NOPE, but got talking to some young lads with two Canon 400D SLR cameras, as Adrain Sutil got out the car, and walked away from his car in the tyres. Got a few snaps but not brill as my G9 camera wasn't able to zoom far, and one of the lads I was talking to was having a little snapping session on my 450D camera.

I gave the lads my Flickr account address and told them to check it out, then I left for the car...
Got to the car.. do'h should have made a pit stop to the loos before hand.. so grabbed my food out the car, shoved into a bag, dashed to the loo's and then sat and ate my food up in Luffield A complex and applied my suncream using my hairbrush mirror to guide me...

Soon the Afternoon session got underway, at 13:58 -yep TWO minutes earlier than planned, even the commentator said they arn't usually EARLY.. The first car on track for the afternoon was Alonso, Toyota's Timo Glock and Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren... but two minutes later, Alonso flew off the track, and beached himself in the gravel at Luffield..
And I wondered as the session was red flagged as Lewis Hamilton drove past would be laughing at his ex team mate from last year?..
Alonso gets out of his car, and runs through the gravel and to the incident van... probably embarrassed that he'd twice stopped out this session...

Once the recovery truck and garage crew picked up his car, the session got underway again, with all the other cars back out on track. I remained in the luffield A complex grandstand, before going down to the standing area at Luffield at the back so I could be up the highest bit to get shots over the fence, where I was chatting to this middle aged bloke, who had a Canon 40D, who didn't know the drivers and keep saying "Oh Hannah let me snap this Ferarri or McLaren", and kept saying if you "come over here, or stand here..." when people were standing in the disabled bays for wheelchairs and so heads/bodys would be in my shots.
This blokes shots were rubbish, and when I showed him a shot I'd taken standing next to him, he was like "OH thats really good Hannah.."
He asked me if i've been here before 'yep been coming here since 2004..'- I reply, told him I was in the paddock yesterday, and his reply was that he was in there earlier, he was having a joke with the ice cream man and the bloke was able to take him over into the paddock somehow (apparently)
Oh and cos he was talking to me he kept missing cars to snap... not like me who can talk and snap the cars!!!
He told me I should get some little steps to stand on cos of my height -but after he saw some of my shots I bet he wished he'd kept his mouth shut!.
I eventually HAD to move away from the bloke to the other end of the flat open standing area as he was getting VERY annoying -but not before giving him my Flickr photography address :P

I took a few more pictures setting my camera to focus throught he wiring and onto the cars, before people we getting into my shots and blocking my view..

Right time to go to my favourite spot.. but first I make a pit stop to the toilets and then down to Abbey chicane's little merchindise, refreshments stand, where I grabbed my coffee from the same couple I got it from ealier today, they asked me a few questions, as I put sweetner in my coffee, they were interested in my photography (should have given them my flickr photography site address!). And told them I'd be back next year for testing.. then headed off back to my favourite spot with my camera round my neck, sipping coffee..

I carried on snapping the cars, snapping the helecopters that kept coming and going (and on review the pics they were Honda personals) And fans with flags etc..

And with 5 minutes to go, and other red flag comes out, the seventh of the day... and so that was the end of the 3-day Silverstone testing...
As I walked back to my car I felt quite sad actually, I'd had alot of fun in the past three days...

Bring on Silverstone Testing 2009..
