Hannah's Johnny Herbert Karting 2007 Page

cat_washing My name is Hannah, and this is my Johnny Herbert Karting Page.
THIS PAGE STARTED ON THE 23rd December 2007.

Johnny Herbert every year does a charity karting event, now in its 13th year, raising funds for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, which Johnny is a patron for.
It took place this year at the Raceway, Kings Cross. And for the last time to, as the place was going to be knocked down, but fear not it will return to the new Raceway situated at Docklands.

We -Myself, Alison, Katie, Laurance and Marney arrived at the Raceway 25th November, freezing cold, we entered in, and spoke to Roy who helps organise it, and who Alison had emailed to see what drivers would be there. It was free entry (usually £5 per person) but Roy said well if you buy a programme which some of us did for £3.50.
Drivers breifing we entered though to the track, freezing cold, lots of drivers all suited up, and photographers taking photos of all the driver teams. There were 22 teams, and 22 karts. Basically you did qualifying, then a driver from each team did 1 fasted lap, then a little break, before the 3 hour race happened. Karter starting the day

There were so many drivers from Karting, or new people staring out, also there was ITV f1's Ted Kraviz and James Allen. So there was 4 celebrity Karting teams. there was over 139 drivers to watch out for!
eventually the driver breifing took place on the track, and it then all got underway, alothough we did have to stop as a person was taken ill, (reading Roys report) Dave Baker (a photographer) was taken to hospital and underwent emergency surgery (he's on the mend now)
Trying to capture karts going fast is tricky, alot of my pictures were blured, though I did get a few good captures. karter pitting, with Ted and james in the background

We also noticed Alistair Weaver from Honda tv there! i'm not sure which team he was driving for though.
After a little while Katie and Lourance headed off for some lunch (before that they were having a kiss-a-thon) which was funny and the presenter came over on the tannoy and a huge crowd appeared!, whilst myself Alison and Marney stayed. It was funny watching drivers change over as driver would hop out of the kart, the other jumping in, got some great pictures of that.
Later on we came out of the karting venue to get some fresh air outside, and so Alison could have a ciggie!, then we went up into the bar, and watched some racing from the window, it was getting dark too, and i was worried at how my camera would work -my HP R717 goes very slow when it gets dark and night mode is a no-no!
As we were watching, Katie and Lourance came back and frightened the life out of us! nearly ended up out the window!

me with Johnny Herbert. Picture (C) A. Devlin We then headed back down to the karting track. Got some drinks and then it was the end of the race, and the podium was wheeled out onto the track, each driver of the top three teams were presented with trophys, which were made of glass... well it was funny, Johnny gave Helen (one of the girls of a team) her trophy, which was placed on this black box, which helen though was the stand.. well it went smash! Laurance managed to catch it on video, and its up on youtube

Alison took a photo of me with Johnny Herbert, and he said to me "its great to have someone short like me" or something to that effect, and we also took a picture with Alistair Weaver.
We waited round to see if we could catch James Allen and Ted Kraviz, but we didn't see them, so we headed back to Alisons house. The podium at the end with the 3 teams

It was a great day, even if it was cold. Hope to do it again next year.
