About the North West Leicestershire Society of Model Engineers

STOP PRESS : We now have an official website here http://nwlsme.co.uk/

We are based at the Hermitage Recreation Ground in Whitwick (near Coalville), just behind the all weather sports pitch. Our main activity is building and operating model steam locomotives, although our members are involved in many of the varied aspects of the Model Engineering hobby.

We run trains for the public to have rides on the 3rd Sunday of each month. We also have events through the year when members of other clubs visit with their locomotives and traction engines. These events are open to the public as well.

Throughout the year we host visits from local community groups to give them an interesting day out and to learn about steam locomotives.

The clubhouse is available to hire out for parties if you fancy one and with a railway theme and free train rides are included in the hire fee.

We are always happy to welcome new members, young and old. You do not need to have any previous training or experience in engineering as we have plenty of members who will be happy to give advice if needed.

You can come down to visit us on any Thursday or Sunday morning or call Jamie Wilde on 01530 273270 for info.
