In the first few weeks that a girl comes to Pack Meetings, she will do three things.

She will read the Brownie Story.

She will choose her Brownie clothes.

She will learn and understand the Promise and Law.

Then it is time for a very important event - the Promise Ceremony!

The Brownie will look in the pond and complete the rhyme from the Brownie Story.

"Twist me and turn me and show me the elf
I looked in the water and there saw myself."

Then her Sixer will take her to the Guider and she will make her Promise.

All the other Brownies will make the Brownie sign as she makes her Promise.  They remember their own Promise Ceremony.

After she has made her promise, the Brownies give her a Pack Salute, clapping three times and saying 'Welcome'.  The new Brownie then claps three times and says 'Thank you'.

The date on which she makes her Promise is very important.  This date is her Brownie Birthday and, in a year's time, she will get a special badge to wear.
