vw action 2008
This is my first time I’ve been to VW Action since I was a small child, and only the second time I’ve ever been to Santa Pod. I was quite excited! The gates opened at noon on Friday. We arrived around 2pm and set up camp on the FL4TLANDERS racing team club stand next to the Jagerbug.
The off-road course opened at 2pm for the Baja buggies. There was a selection of different food stalls from pizza or curry to fish and chips. The fairground was reasonably priced at £2 per ride. The Waltzer was a lot of fun, apologies to the poor guys I dragged on it with me – apparently men don’t do Waltzers.
There was plenty of entertainment on the Friday night, with dance music in the VW Action Marquee and a mixture of comedy and live bands in the Fuellers bar.
Saturday morning arrived and the weather was sunny. The drag strip opened around 10am for ‘Peak Performance’ cars, Top Fuel, Pro Mods and some invited VW’s.
Poi Circus put on several workshops and shows throughout the weekend. There were also several shows from the Podzilla monster truck.
Saturday night featured live bands throughout the evening, followed by two hours of disco entertainment, before the 'Great Pyjama Party Sleepover' in the Fuellers Bar showing the movie 'American Graffiti'.
Unfortunately Sunday was a miserable day with non-stop rain. This didn’t affect Action’s plans for Poi workshops, Pin striping Seminars and the Camper Van Cook off. There was also a charity auction in aid of Brad’s Cancer Foundation in the Marquee. Sadly, most people left early, including myself, leaving around 2pm.
Overall, it was a great show. Anyone up for a club stand next year? I know you were there!!!
