The club has done this show before and always enjoyed it, although the last two years we’ve been to other shows on this date but have now returned. I was directed to Stansted Airport by the Sat Nav and spent over half an hour going down country lanes so I decided to follow the road signs. Once I entered the town and asked about 4 people, I arrived on site around 3pm Saturday and found the club plot with member attached. I had just started to relax when our next camping members arrived in their Beetle. Soon the clubs’ gazebos, flag and bunting were up and it was now time to relax. We all had a great evening talking until around 1am.
The clubs plot was close to the toilets so we were lucky to be camping close by. This show has loads of new car dealerships amongst the classic cars. There were not many stalls, 2 in fact, but not to worry… save money.
We had a good display 3 Beetles, 3 Bay’s and 3 T25’s. Also on the field was our member in his Swimming wagon but he had broken down upon entering the field. Next to our plot were Ford Mustangs, and the other side was a few individual classic cars.
On the top field were some local clubs and a BBQ. The weather was great for both days - a very relaxing weekend. I followed a member home that camped so we had a convoy of 1 Beetle and 1 Bay. Only trouble following an ex-London Bus Driver is that he slows down at Bus Stops and then races away if someone gets close (ha ha!). I followed closely down lanes that a Route master would have difficulty with and hills that took 2nd gear trying to catch up. I reckon he has got a Bus Engine in his Beetle - it certainly moves, even with a trailer full of balloons bouncing on the road!
