I arrived around lunchtime and with the help of a food vendor, we put up the clubs gazebo, flags and bunting. I then went around the field with a measuring wheel and adjusted my plan for our VW show the following week. I then relaxed and had a few beers as I waited for our club members that were camping to arrive. It was a lovely evening, the sky was clear and you could see the stars. Battlesbridge has a large rabbit population and at dusk you could also see a flock of bats fly out from their roost. Probably from one of the old smugglers caves that abound the riverside, maybe they are still used today with the price of fuel and fags who knows what you would see in the early hours of the morning! The Barge Pub was always a favourite with seedy characters and this is still so today.

I woke up nice and early Sunday morning to see the cars arriving and our members arrive one by one. The weather was good and shorts were worn by a good many people. The sun brought out the cars and the people so it was quite busy all day. We had a good display on our club stand from Air-cooled to the Water-cooled, Type 25’s and the Bays out numbered any other VW on our club stand, we even had 2 Beetles to prove that we are not just a camper club!
This was a good show and we always have a nice plot and we will be back again in August for the Jaguar Show.
