vw festival 2008
VW Festival 2008 is advertised as a 2-day event with a relaxed atmosphere and live bands. Admittedly there was camping available Saturday night, but the show was mainly on the Sunday with a few bands thrown in on the Saturday evening.
With the Bus misbehaving and throwing a brake shoe “en route”, 3 of us travelled up on Saturday in the newly welded 1200 Beetle from Kent/Essex to Leeds, stopping off at friends in Wakefield on the way (thanks guys).
The show was set in the grounds of Harewood House, a beautiful stately home with formal gardens and “gentle woodland walks”. There was an Adventure playground for the kids and also a bird garden including a Penguin enclosure. It was free to walk around the house to those who had paid for the show.
Sadly the black rain clouds stuck with us for most of the weekend, although it only rained during the night on Saturday and remained dry for the show. All this rain meant that the field became quite muddy. Wellies weather!

Overall, this was a good show and one I hope to go to again.
