manningtree classic vehicle show 2008
Left home around noon and hit heavy traffic all the way to the A12. Once on the A12 I managed to put my foot down and hit the magic 70 (a rare site in my Camper) which needed to be done now and then to blow the cobwebs away. I got to the site nice and early, only to find that I was on my own (again). As I walked around the site I found our clubs plot was sprayed on the ground. I got out a new black waterproof gazebo and tried to put it up. This is a commercial grade gazebo and was too heavy for me to put up on my own, so I waited for help from members. Thanks Smy family for all the help they gave me and for feeding me. I would also like to thank other club members who helped in packing up the club stand thanks and for supplying me with hot coffee.
This is a nice show with overnight camping for those who have their own facilities. We had our best display this year so far with a total of 13 VW’s - 10 Air-cooled and 3 Water-cooled. According to my lists we have more Beetles than any other model. So I always wonder were they are? As it was said by a Beetle owner that we are a Camper club. Well it would have been nice for him to come. Anyway back to the show… the weather was dry and nearly shorts weather, something that I thought about all day. Life is full of difficult decisions like this and it became a major worry for me.

At this show there were Military vehicles, Jeeps and Armoured cars and also a RAF Fire Engine (Scott would have been pleased! Ha ha). Also in attendance were other car clubs and individuals, a few motorbikes and for the locals, the stars of the show 2, yes 2, identical tractors both were finished in blue paint! To the non-local these could have came from the field opposite but these were Gods to the locals who circled them in praise and worship to the mighty spud.
This is a good show and was only let down by the lack of toilets. I will come again next year, a good camper always carries a spare toilet roll.
