1910 census - born Wales, immigrated 1882 age 31, single, Hanover St 4.
1916 - Certified as Assistant Mine Foreman, by Department of Mines,
Commonwealth of PA, 1 Feb 1916. It states that he had been a miner for 7
years and man-at-general work for 10 years 5.
1920 census - born Wales age 41, immigrated 1881, naturalized 1890 6.
1930 - Delegate to Welsh Assoc Meeting 1930, lived 397 Hanover St.
Warrior Run. Religion - Welsh Baptist Fire-boss at the caldera at Warrior
Run
According to Eva Seaman (niece, dau. of Thomas Tudgay) in a letter dated
1986, 'Walt was a fireboss, that is they went in at 2 or 3 in the AM to
check for methane gas at No. 20 tunnel of the Glenalden Coal Co. of
Scranton.' 7.

buried Slocum cem; employed as foreman in mines 8.
Obit: Walter Tudgay, 53, of 397 Hanover Street, Warrior Run, died
yesterday morning at 11:50 in Nanticoke State Hospital. Mr. Tudgay was a
lifelong and prominent resident of Warrior Run. He was a member and deacon
of First Baptist church and was a member of Lodge 899, I.O.O.F. of Askam
and Shalimar Sanctorum of this city. He leaves his wife and the following
children: Joseph, Ruth, Earl, Walter, Florence, Edith and Alan, all of
Warrior Run; two brothers and a sister, Joseph W.., Edwin J., and Nellie,
all of Warrior Run. Funeral services will be held at the home on Monday
afternoon 9.

Obit - Mrs. Grace Tudgay, 69, of Slocum, died last night in Danville
Hospital. The former Grace Meyers of Wanamie, she resided in Slocum for 25
years. Her husband Walter, died 26 years ago. Mrs. Tudgay was the daughter
of the late Nelson Myers and Eliza Seddon Myers. Surviving are these
children: Joseph, Philadelphia; Mrs. Edwin DeLong and Allen, Rockville,
Md; Earl, Bridgeport, Conn; Mrs. Robert Lynn, Slocum; and Mrs. Harold
Price, Capitol Heights, Md; sisters: Mrs George Sliker, North Plainfield,
NJ; Mrs Mary Thomas, Mechanicsburg; and Mrs Alvin Fair, Conyngham; also 15
grandchildren. Funeral will be held Thursday at 2 pm from the Cragle
Funeral Home, Hobbie, with Rev. A Ward Campbell officiating. Interment in
Slocum Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 7 to 9. 12

Born Jan. 3, 1916 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Simon and Celia (Ferris) Charley (Charles). He was a partner of Charles Brother's Supermarket, Tunkhannock, from 1947 until retiring in 1978. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He served on the Board of Directors of the Wyoming Valley Economy Stores for 20 years and was president of the...
