These photo's were taken at the West Somerset Railway Autumn Gala over the period 30th September to 4th October 2004. The aim is to give a flavour of this excellent event. (Please note that the photos are not in chronological order!) 

Around Bishop's Lydeard.

Leaving Bishop's Lydeard for Barrow Hill.
leaving1.jpg (92601 bytes) On the Monday morning the loco and it's tender were split and marshalled ready for transportation to Barrow Hill.

leaving4.jpg (91004 bytes) ... the tractor unit (with winch) positioned at the far end of the flatbed and temporary rails fitted from the track to the flatbed.  
leaving3.jpg (87314 bytes) After coupling the winch cable to the locos' drawbar pin, the loco is slowly winched onto the flatbed.
leaving2.jpg (96699 bytes) Once in position the loco is secured to the flatbed by chains. 
leaving6.jpg (90238 bytes) The winch cable is disconnected, temporary rails removed and the tractor unit recouples onto the flatbed and raises it hydraulically.
