Superheater.

Tightening element 29.jpg (65399 bytes) Securing a superheater element to the superheater header using a tommy bar with a 4 foot extension.
Fitting elements 1 + 2.jpg (51052 bytes) Top view - all elements in place except for numbers 33 and 34.

 

Lower view - the two remaining elements ready to be fitted.

Fitting element 3 + 4.jpg (40371 bytes)  Guiding the element into the flue tube.
Fitting elements 5 + 6.jpg (50400 bytes) About 6 feet to go.

 

One person guiding the element ends into the header block while the second person provides the final push.

In the foreground (covered by a plate) is the double blastpipe. Shortly after this photograph was taken the two blastpipe nozzles were bolted into place.

At the top of the photo is the double chimney. The petticoat pipe has now been fitted to the bottom of this casting.

The pipe visible in the top right hand corner is the exhaust for the vacuum brake ejectors, the exhaust feeding into a ring of holes cast into the rear chimney.
