Welcome. This site is dedicated to 92214, an ex-British Railways Class 9F steam locomotive, restored to working order and presently running at the Midland Railway - Butterley. The locomotive returned to the MR-B in the third week of August 2008, after a spell of three and a half years at the East Lancashire Railway. Subsequent to returning to Butterley, the loco has taken part in the 'Works Open Day' three day event at the end of August 2008 and the December 2008 'Santa Specials'. In early 2009 the rear wheels of the loco have been removed using the West Shed (thanks guys) wheel drop to allow remedial work to be carried out on the ashpan. This work is now complete.
This website provides a history of 92214 during preservation, technical details of the locomotive, progress reports and photographs taken during it's restoration and return to service.
