Advertising Referees

FIFA has announced that referees will be able to have advertisements on the shirts for club matches but not internationals. The adverts will be limited to 200 square centimeters and can not promote alcohol, gambling or politics.

Society Regain Quiz Title

The society successfully defended the quiz title it won last year at the recent County Committee football and quiz competitions. The quiz was tied with Derby and then won on a tie break. The winning team was:
J Baker, C Baker, P Turner, T Lenton
The society did not have as much luck in the football competitions as we failed to win a match.

Implementation Team Elected

The new RA implementation team has been elected, the following people have been elected onto the team:
Active Referees - D. Crick (team leader), B. O'Toole, A. Snoddy, A. Henderson, B. Ridgard, L. Randall
Non-Active Referees - R. Blackman, C. Harris, J. Bates

County 5 a-side and Quiz

The county five-a-side and quiz competitions are due to take place on Sunday 18th November at Ripley Leisure centre. The football is due to start at 6:30pm and the quiz at 9:00pm. The society decided at the last meeting to enter 1 football team and 2 quiz teams.

Professional Players Put Off Refereeing

According to the Professional Footballers' Association chief executive Gordon Taylor, it is going to take a huge change in the attitudes of the football authorities before many Premiership Managers get their wish of having ex-professional players refereeing Premiership games. It is claimed that the Referees Association is very much opposed to the idea.

RA Insurance

From the  Management Consultancy Report one of the suggestions was that Council should look at the possibility of offering members of the Referees Association extra benefits in addition to those members currently enjoy under the present personal Accident Policy. New Class System for Referees

The classification system for referees is set for change. Instead of having 3 classes there will now be 10 levels, ranging from 1 FIFA to 10 Inactive Referees...
