Panel League Referees' List

The Panel League referees list will be reduced at the end of the season 01/02 to provide a list of referees who only referee on  Panel Competitions and selected FA games. This will be reduced by:

• Referees promoted to National List.

• Referees retiring through age.

• Performance, as determined by the combined merit list.

Panel League Assistants Referees List

The list will be reduced to ensure that everyone completes an adequate number of games. 

Selection will be made from the current list of assistant referees from their position on the merit table. The age limit will be increased to 42 as of 1st March in the preceding season.

National List of Contributory Match Officials

With the introduction of a centralised appointment system for all matches in the recognized making divisions of the leagues comes from a National list of Match Officials. Selection to the referees list will be made by the FA in conjunction with the contributory league. Selection to the assistants list will be made by the FA from nominations submitted by County FAs

Fitness Tests

Contributory tests for 02/03:

Referees: Multi stage fitness test to the standard set for assistant referees  on the national list (level 11).
Assistants: 12 minute continuous run minimum of 2,700 m. 2 x 50m sprints max 7.5 sec for each.
