Supplementary Feeds.

Supplements can be fed in addition to the regular feed once or twice a week. Feed no more than one teaspoon per day per chinchilla. Some chins with more delicate stomachs need a little less. You can make your own supplement, ingredients can usually be found in health food stores.

3 lbs. Rolled Oats
1 1/2 lbs. Red Wheat Bran
1 lb. Rolled Wheat
1 lb. Rolled Barley
1 lb. Wheat Germ
1/2 lb. Flax Seed
1/4 lb. Shelled unsalted raw Sunflower Seeds

2 lbs. Rolled Oats
1 lb. Barley Flakes
1 lb. Cracked Wheat
1 lb. Red Wheat Bran
1 lb. Wheat Germ
1 lb. Flax Seed
1/4 lb. Shelled unsalted raw Sunflower Seeds

1kg rolled oats
1kg wheatgerm
1kg wheatbran
250g rye flakes
250g barley flakes
250g wheat flakes
250g quinoa flakes
150g golden linseed
15g calcium powder
10g "Arkvits" multivitamin & mineral supplement
Handful of dried nettles

 

Recipe no. 4

1 Kg wheat bran
1 Kg oats
1 Kg barley
1 Kg wheat
330 g millet
165 g linseed
75 g fennel
75 g skimmed milk powder
1 tbls chamomile
1 tbls hip
3/4 tbls peppermint
1/3 tbls sage
1/3 tbls mallow
1 tsp St. John's wort



Small quantities of dried brewers yeast can be added.

If other treats are fed, they should be done so sparingly.
