This should only be necessary where a chinchilla for some reason refuses to eat. I have only had to deal with this situation once when a female Standard refused to eat for several days after miscarriage. For some unknown reason it is not uncommon for chinchillas to refuse to eat during times of ill health. As will be explained later on, this can have considerable effects on the health and recovery of the chinchilla.
There are two main products readily available on the market for dealing with this problem at the moment, Supreme Recovery, and Oxbow Critical Care. I only have experience of using the Recovery. Both products come highly recommended, and I have know many people swear by them for dealing with ill chins that refuse to eat.
