Here is some blurb received via email on a possible cycling event in Cumbria, land of Gurning...and Stan Laurel.
Dear Fellow Cyclist.
Tour de Furness ‘05
The Rotary Club of Furness has been running the Tour de Furness for a number of years. The object of the ride is to raise money for your favourite charity or St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston whilst at the same time enjoying a good ride. The “Furness 50” ride follows the Morecambe Bay coast road to Ulverston, and travels through lovely countryside along the eastern shore of Coniston Water, through Coniston and south down the Western side of the lake, taking in some of the most beautiful views and villages in Cumbria. The route then returns you to Roose Conservative Club at Barrow. If you or any of your members would like to take part, an entry form can be downloaded at www.topmarkonline.co.uk A copy of the poster advertising the event is attached. I would be grateful if you could give this prominence in your club and maybe put a team into the event. I can promise that it will be a most enjoyable ride.
Yours sincerely,
Bill Nickson
P.S. To the person who raises the most in sponsorship, we will donate a further £100 to the charity or good cause of their choice.
