On the weekend of 3rd & 4th July the Duks had a team entered in the Saab/Salomon 24 Mountain Bike race at Eastnor Castle Park near Malvern.
The Team :- Duncan Chandler, Phil Cunningham, Ian Kemp & Chris Powell.
The weekend started dry and sunny with the 10 mile laps of the park, which included 1500 feet of climbing, being dry, dusty and fast...... Then it rained.... solidly, for 4 hours before the start!!
With over 500 teams taking part the course was rapidly transformed into a strength sapping quagmire. From previously taking around 90 mins in the dry, lap times slumped to between 2& 3 Hours!
The sun did eventually re-appear to give good, dryer conditions by Sunday morning. Despite the weather conditions, we all had a cracking, fun weekend and finished a creditable 144th out of 252 starters.
