THE CHRIS HODGKINS QUARTET
Cardiff raised, Chris returns to Wales with his jazz quartet. He first started to play trumpet at the age of 15. With many years of experience behind him, including recordings, touring the UK and Europe, he now leads the accomplished four piece. They play a selection of tunes from his previously released albums. Also new originals by Henry Lowther and Diane Mcloughlin, favourites ranging from Goose Pimples (Fletcher Henderson) to where or When (Peggy Lee/Benny Goodman), and Jeeps Blues (Johnny Hodges).
In recent years Chris Hodgkins playing has achieved new heights. He can, and does, surprise any audience lucky enough to hear him, with the kind of multi-faceted concept which can move anywhere from the angry heat of Roy Eldridge, the classic styles of Ruby Braff, and Louise Armstrong, to the mid-period delicacy of a harmon-muted Miles Davis.
Chris Hodgkins Trumpet.
Max Brittian Guitar.
Alison Raynor Double Bass.
Diane McLoughlin Saprano/Alto Sax.
