You can listen to (or download) excerpts in MP3 format of Cardiff's finest Dempsey’s Gigs from this page. Click on the track to hear the audio file. There isn't anything sinister lurking here, but if you have any questions about the format of the files on this page, please e-mail us . Also contact us with any corrections, comments, derisive snorts of laughter or banjo jokes. These are only excerpts because a) we care about the phone bill (unless you’re broadband users), and b) you really had to be there.
Capital City Jazz Orchestra - our regular big band. This is, unusually, the whole performance so you can enjoy the extended duet with Osian Roberts and Dick Hamer
Fraser Smith’s Rebop - young band of Welsh College students, great to hear these guys going back to bop classics and with such style
Robert Mitchell trio - one of our visitors from London and one of the most impressively original pianists we’ve heard in a long time
Wonderbrass - South Wales favourites, a community based band of thousands, it sometimes seems
Jim Barber - Jim’s been a mainstay for us, including lending us his piano, this an introduction to one of his originals, featuring the virtuoso Ash Long on bass
Jonny Bruce - Jonny’s band features distinctive and original interpretations of standards and originals
Paul Towndrow - another visitor, this time from Glasgow, we think he must be at the top of the tree for alto sax players
Geoff Eales - master pianist on a visit to his homeland with Ben Waghorn and Ash Long in the band
Samples of some of the gigs at Dempsey’s over the last year or so, we’ll update from time to time, and will consider requests.
