The Training Opportunities Walking Scheme is a competence-based modular
scheme at three levels. It enables adults to gain the skills, experience
and confidence needed to lead groups on walks, hikes and expeditions, as
well as enabling parents to check leader qualifications are sufficient. At
each level a certain number of log book walks, first aid training and an
assessment walk are required alongside the modules. A mentor will be
appointed by the walking adviser / team to each leader on the
scheme.
