"Folk" music but which is now also categorised as "Acoustic/Roots/World" music.

musicians and songwriters who have their roots firmly set in their chosen area
of traditional music.
intimacy, comfort and cafe bar facilities of the small 200-seater theatre, the concerts
have proved to be very popular.
We are also working in collaboration with other local venues, Cranleigh Arts Centre
and Farnham Maltings, which are equally as comfortable as the Electric Theatre and
share its relaxing and eclectic ambience.
A list of our our concerts over the past decade can be found here.
Also, having successfully relaunched the "Good Old Way" folk club at the start of
2005 we moved it to The Guildford Institute, Ward Street (off North Street), Guildford,
in October. This new venue has proved ideal for the enjoyment of acoustic music in
intimate surroundings.
The Guildford Institute has lots of possibilities for a range of musical activities in
the future so we have changed the folk club's name to the all-embracing title "The
Music Institute". We have already sponsored the launch of Guildford's newest
community choir, Guildford Vox which meets to rehearse every Monday
evening at the Guildford Institute.
For those of you interested in the genesis of "Electric Voices" it is promoted by
Linda and Lawrence Heath who were first involved in organising things "folkie"
when they, and a long list of long-suffering friends and helpers, ran "Stagfolk"
at Shackleford Social Centre from 1974 until the early '80's.
Ceilidhs at Godalming Borough Hall,
the Horncastle folk club, the "Old Nic"
ceilidhs, the "Footworks" festival at Farnham Maltings and, in passing,
Fleur de Lys Morris and "The Southern Rag" (which became
"fROOTS" when it grew up!)
Finally, please make sure that you drop in on the Electric Theatre, Cranleigh
