I am very happy to give private tuition, consultation lessons and workshops.

I teach pupils of all ages and abilities and have considerable experience at coaching pupils for music college and university entrance auditions. I am really keen to help my pupils achieve their potential in tone production, tone colour and control of dynamics. My studies in Paris helped me to develop a combination of techniques and exercises that can help to maximise improvement in this area.

As a very experienced orchestral player, I can give advice on preparing for orchestral auditions.

I studied at the Royal College of Music - www.rcm.ac.uk - where I was a pupil of Graham Mayger (flute) and John Barstow (piano). A French government scholarship enabled me to embark on a year's postgraduate study with Michel Debost - www.oberlin.edu/faculty/mdebost/ - who was at that time principal flute with the Orchestre de Paris. I also studied privately for a short time with William Bennett with the aid of a Countess of Munster Scholarship.

Throughout my professional career I have maintained a thriving private flute teaching practice, tutoring all age ranges from 7 years to adults, a number of my former pupils having gained places as undergraduates and postgraduates at major music colleges such as the R.N.C.M., Birmingham Conservatoire and Trinity College. I also spent periods teaching at Salford and Manchester Universities. Between 2002 and 2007, I tutored part-time at Manchester University in composition and orchestration, taught the flute as well as coaching and directing chamber music groups and composition workshops. In addition I now teach the flute at Manchester Metropolitan University's Department of Contemporary Arts (www.mmu.ac.uk) Crewe campus. I am an approved tutor for Cheshire Music Education Partnership.
