Menu Welcome to the home page of the R. E. Wood Family Tree.

My main research is the WOOD & ROSS (my mother`s maiden name) names, however I have discovered many more ancestors with other surnames. These can all be accessed from my database made from a Gedcom file. The majority of names are from the Great Ayton, Stokesley, Guisborough, Skelton Liverton, Moorsholm, Loftus area of North Yorkshire, except for the surname ROSS which traces back to Forfarshire (Angus) & Kincardine areas of Scotland.

As of 5th January 2015 there are some 4026 persons in my Family Tree database with 997 marriages. A lot has been prepared from indexes although a fair ammount has been verified by Certificates and the checking of Census & Parish Records.

Please contact me to ascertain details of any person /family you are interested in.

In the database I have ancestors with the name FEATHERSTONE going back to 1731. I researched back to Thomas FEATHERSTONE b.1788 and his father Thomas FEATHERSTONE b.1764 by myself. However this information has been greatly expanded upon since I became a member of THE FEATHERSTONE SOCIETY (see Links Page). They have members who have been researching the FEATHERSTONE name for many, many years via Parish Records, Wills, etc.In view of the hard work done by, and in deference to these people, I will not be adding any further information regarding the FEATHERSTONE surname to this web site. I would reccommend that anyone researching the name FEATHERSTONE join the Society. The small fee involved may be richly rewarded as it has done in my experience..

NEW - From September 2002 - January 2003 I have indexed the surname FEATHERSTONE and its variants from the 1891 Census for Yorkshire. This index is available on the FEATHERSTONE SOCIETY web site (See Links Page).

In December 2001 via the internet I found a co-researcher of the SAD(D)LER surname, her name is Valerie Heath.(nee SADLER). Her grandfather (David Dixon SADLER) and one of my maternal grandmother`s (Lilian SADLER) were brother & sister. She has a web site entitled The SADLER Family of Osmotherley.

My research is still ongoing and as more ancestors and verification of data from indexes is confirmed the database will be updated., and information included on the What`s New page.
