Our History

Merrow is on the Eastern side of Guildford. The Methodist Church is located on one of a number of housing estates and serves the local community as well as nearby Burpham .The first Methodist church in Merrow was started by a few people from the Guildford Church in a Scout hut. This group grew and a Hall was built for Worship and all activities in 1954. In 1968 the present Church was opened and more recently a new entrance area and other facilities to update the premises in 1991.

The number of members grew to around 160 / 180 over the past few years but with many more coming within the community roll.

We have developed strong active relationships with our neighbouring Anglican and Catholic Churches and more recently with the local branch of the Guildford Baptist Church.

Youth activities have developed flexibly according to local needs. Currently there is a group on Mondays for pre teen years; there are also Guides and Brownies on a Friday and Junior Church groups meeting on Sunday morning.
