Musician's Health "...is an educational web site devoted
to the understanding and the explanation
of musician's injuries, along with guidelines
regarding injury prevention, optimizing your
musical performance, and for achieving an
optimum state of health. The site is also
home of the Chiropractic Performing Arts
Association (CPAA). The CPAA is a group of
chiropractors who have an avid interest in
working with the performing arts population,
and in most cases are personally trained
as musicians, dancers, and actors. The goal
of the CPAA is to bring natural, drugless
healthcare to the performing arts population
with the vision of enhancing performance,
increasing vitality & creativity, eliminating
drug use (both prescription and recreational),
and increasing overall body awareness."
The Complete Guide To The Alexander Technique "...provides a systematic guide to
all Alexander Technique information and resources
- both on and off the Internet."
The Society of Teachers of the Alexander
Technique (UK based)
...and as luck would have it (!) there is
a local practitioner of the technique, Grant
Ragsdale, who has his own site The Alexander Technique
in West Yorkshire and runs the Alexander Technique Teaching Centre in Leeds . If you live further afield in
the UK there is a list of qualified teachers available from therapy.world.co.uk which has details of other complementary
therapies. If you're in the US then the CPAA
(listed above) is the place to turn to. Grant,
by the way, describes the technique as "...being
the panacea to all ailments and supplying
the answers to all of life's niggling little
problems". Enough said....he is MSTAT qualified!
