bob fischer
bob fischer feels his spate of recent live performances has eroded his carefully
cultivated mystique, and has retreated back undercover for the time being.
a
nice spot of drizzle, a wad of used ten pound notes or an interesting gig
proposition in an amusing venue may yet change his mind. in the meantime
bob is working on his debut album, currently scheduled for release sometime
in 2037.
previous live performances... (all pictures by kev howard)
on friday 28th july 2006, bob fischer and keith played at the empire in middlesbrough, supporting hit parade stars 'british sea power' in front of a large, slightly inebriated crowd. bob was impressed with british sea power's collection of james herriott books, and had his picture taken with their robot made from tomatoes.

on

festival, making a cameo appearance on the open mic stage and stomping through
four songs on the back of a parked-up lorry before receiving a mildly enthusiastic
round of applause.
on
friday 9th june 2006, bob fischer played at the tap and spile in whitby,
playing some acoustic things and doing doo-wop with miniature g, in a brief
interlude during a gig by the godlike genius that is benjamin wetherill.
after the show, bob stole from the pub wall a poster proclaiming him to
be the new noel coward.
on
sunday 4th june 2006, bob fischer played at the purple onion in middlesbrough
at the personal request of marvellous singer-songthingy rojor, and did some
stupid rock'n'roll covers as well as the usual self-written things.
on sunday 30th april 2006, bob fischer played at middlesbrough town hall,
supporting top 10 pop star alistair griffin once again,
drinking lots of worthington best bitter and giving a debut to top rockin'
doo-wop title 'please don't take the dog', with backing vocals provided
by the inestimable miniature g. afterwards, bob was told by a nice lady
that she could 'hear a bit of jake thackray' in his songs, which made him
feel all warm and gooey inside for at least 20 minutes.

on
friday 7th april 2006, bob fischer was sitting in the bar of arc in stockton
when he was asked to step in at the last minute and play at an acoustic
night upstairs, as king eskimo's van had let them down. bob performed a
storming set to an audience of very excitable teenagers who later requested
lots of pictures of bob for their mobile telephone things.
on thursday 23rd march 2006 bob fischer played at the lion inn, blakey ridge,
north yorkshire, supporting top 10 pop star alistair griffin. bob met lots
of alistair's fans, who were really nice, and also ate a vegetarian lasagne.
by the end of the evening bob was so pissed that he had to be driven home
by a lady friend, and drivelled on about blake's 7 for almost the entire
1 hour 15 minute journey.
on sunday 20th november 2005 bob fischer played at the waiting room in eaglescliffe,
by himself, although andy landscape stepped up and played a couple of songs
as well. the audience were beaten into submission with a cover of syd barrett's
effervescing elephant.

in a large black overcoat and gave the first public performance of his new
song 'we've heard it all before (and we were bored the first time'.
on saturday 6th august 2005, bob fischer and keith made a live appearance
at the stockton riverside fringe festival. they played for about 45 minutes,
and attempted to give away the world's most difficult jigsaw as a competition
prize. bob fischer wore a brown caretaker's coat that was generously donated
to him. keith remained casual.
on
saturday 12th june 2005, bob fischer made a lesser-spotted live appearance
at the white horse farm hotel in rosedale, north yorkshire. this was bob
fischer's first live appearance of 2005, and he played for around an hour,
giving debuts to several new songs including 'when i grow myself a beard'
and 'who counts?'. these songs will be included on future recordings.
also playing live were the excellent manfat voodoo, and the night was organised
by pete bell of rosedale's cultural foundation, who later described bob
fischer's performance as 'good enough for agricultural purposes'.
