Winter days can be clear and beautiful but very cold especially at higher altitudes. This site concentrates on the warmer seasons, shorts and a T for comfort. Average temperatures for N. Arizona and S. Utah are set out below. Over the last few years the weather patterns have been a little unpredictable but usually its sunshine all the way. Storms, when appearing are usually short, fierce and spectacular. Summer temperatures can soar especially in the low desert regions, 90 - 100deg is not uncommon , be prepared and always have plenty of water handy especially out on the trails.
Flights are cheaper during April/May/September/Oct. Hotel/Motel rates usual start to rise at the end of May leading into Memorial Day, a very popular national holiday. During July/August rates peak. In Utah during the American Fall (autumn) the spectacular show from Aspens etc bring in the visitors, higher rates are maintained.
Visitor numbers to the parks etc increase dramatically in peak season (June July August) roads will be busy to all the major destinations. This will mean all parking, lodging, camping, restaurant and cafe facilities will be in demand combined with some pretty high temperatures to consider. Don't let this put you off, as far as lodging is concerned the advice is to book ahead, once you have a base you can plan the rest on a daily basis. Maybe visit the parks at less crowded times of the day.
