Late September brings a glorious tapestry of yellow, gold, copper through to red as the leaves of the Aspen and other trees turn color. A wonderful spectacle to take in during a casual drive along perhaps the 153 in Utah or stretches of the Million Dollar Highway up in the Colorado mountains. The Brian Head area near Cedar Breaks Utah can be spectacular but in recent years the pines have been devastated by the Bark Beetle and some of the Aspens are suffering from some sort of malady. Here Hwy 14 on the way down or up from Cedar City can be rewarding. The meadowland road (67) leading to the North Rim of Grand Canyon can be a beautiful relaxing drive, the vivid Fall colors are contrasted against the dark green of the pine forest. As well as these few suggestions there are splashes of color to be seen along many of the routes, they are a vacation bonus. Enjoy !
