Lego Imperial Star Destroyer (ISD)

Another "quick & dirty" page to post up details of the new (as of early Nov 2002) LEGO Imperial Star Destroyer (ISD). Based on Darth Vader's ship from the openning scenes of the original movie, the set includes over 3100 pieces and instructions to build a scale version of Princess Leia's 'rebel blockade runner', the Tantive IV, as well as the ISD itself. This set is available from LEGO's 'Shop@Home' website.

NOTE: Over the months since the ISD came out, a number of people have noticed innacuracies in the instructions; Lego have released an updated version of the manual & now supply additional 'stability' pieces. Also, the on-line community has come up with a few "home-brew" improvements - check out the FBTB.net forum here (special thanks to 'lowlead', 'josh120' and the others).

That manual really is a beast ! It's thicker than a standard brick is tall. Did I mention that it is 228 pages thick ? It's really rather heavy.

Inside the big box, four slightly smaller boxes ...

And inside them, rather a large pile of Lego.

PS The magnets are for holding on the main surfaces of the body ... the superstructure is mostly Technic beams.
