Y ceiliog
mwyalch balchbwyll,
Dawn i'th dal, a dyn ni'th dwyll.
Cyfion mewn glyn d'emyn di
Cyson o union ynni.
Crefyddwr wyd anwydawl,
Credi fi, croyw yw dy fawl.
Gwisgaist, enynnaist annerch,
Gwisg ddu, nid er selu serch.
Gwisg a ddanfones Iesu
Is y dail it osai du,
A dwbwl gwell na deuban
Mawr ei glod, o'r mwrai glan.
Sidan gapan am gopa
Yn ddu roed yn ddiau'r ha',
Dwbled harddgled mewn rhedyn
Blac y lir uwch glandir glyn.
Muchudd dy ddeurudd eirian,
Pig cwrel gloyw angel glan.
Prydydd wyd, medd proffwydi
Cywyddol maenol i mi,
Awdur cerdd adar y coed,
Esgud, cyw mwyndrud meindroed.
Os gwyddost yn osgeiddig,
Annerch gwen dan bren a brig;
Os gwn innau o newydd
Sgwir gwawd, ysgwier y gwydd,
Ganu moliant a'i wrantu
I ti, y ceiliog, wyt du.

High-hearted
songster, in no wise
May craft of fowler be thy bane.
Melodiously thine anthems rise
As from the glen thou sing'st amain.
Impassion'd friar of the grove
That kindlest thy soul's ecstasy,
Hark thou to me -
Thy sable cowl marks thee not loath to love.
With cowl
of murrey deck'd art thou,
By Jesu's grace, of osey hue,
With diadem above thy brow
Of silk, betrickt with summer dew.
Among the valley bracken green,
Thy beak as gem of coral set
And thy cheek's jet
And mantle glisten with a radiant sheen.
Well have
the holy prophets said
Thou art the gem of poesy,
Proud virtuoso that dost tread
With precious footsteps daintily.
Dark singer of the woods, away!
Sing to my Gwen thy loveliest song
And my life long
Thy praise renewed shall be a laureate lay.
