OK so what is a Parakeet ? In the USA when anybody uses the word they at once think Budgerigar or Budgie.
I just want to let you know that there are many kinds of Parakeets. Mainly from Australia. Let me introduce you to just a few and send you on your way hopefully wanting to know more.

Here are two Splendid’s. Sometimes called the Scarlet Chested Parakeet.
A normal Cock bird is on the left and a silver hen on the right

Here is a pied red front Kakariki. They come from NZ
My favourite Parakeet

This is a Rosa Bourke. One of the few birds that come in pink.

Here are some more Parakeets. A white  faced Cockatiel and
two Budgies.
There are also Elegants, Turquosines, Red Rumps and many more.
There is something for every bird keeper among this group.
