SIMON DREW

. . .   ARTIST

Dogsbodies

'Dogsbodies''
More Nonsense Drawings & Verse by Simon Drew (ISBN: 1851492712)

I derive great pleasure from the work of artists who play with language in an amusing way
( see the section on Graham Rawle in Page 2 of 'Section 8: In the Spotlight' for another example )

Simon Drew is another artist whose quite distinctive drawings and artwork so often catch my sense of humour.

Simon studied zoology and later taught biology. He is now a dedicated artist working mainly in pen and ink.
His subjects have a distinct emphasis on wildlife and everyday matters.

He exhibits widely and has a shop and gallery in Dartmouth, Devon. His nonsense verse and drawings, in the form of books, greetings cards, prints, mugs and other items, can now be found in many shops throughout the country.

I do recommend a visit to his website where more details of his work and products can be found:

'ROLLOVER' IMAGES

The picture below is my pen, ink and wash drawing of an early morning view over Ludlow, South Shropshire.
When the mouse is moved over the picture it changes and you will see an evening view over Exmouth in South Devon.

Inclusion of these pictures here is really just a plug for this particular imaging technique and for a collection of my drawings, displayed in this way, which can be found in the 'Secret Sketchpad' - accessed from Page 2 of my Art Gallery in Section 5 of 'Themes Familiar'.

NOTE: You may find that the particular drawings, like these 2, which make great use of vertical lines, do not display too well on some monitors. The quality will depend on the size of your screen and the resolution which it is displaying.

GENEALOGY

Building a Family Tree

Family Tree

A fascinating, but often frustrating, pastime.
I don't intend to publish any of my own genealogical discoveries, but, in the course of my investigations, I have come across many interesting and amusing examples of the humorous side of historical research into ancestral history.

A selection of these is to be found in:

The Secret Garden of GRAVE HUMOUR

Click the LINK above to visit and enjoy!

THE FIVE STAGES OF GENEALOGY:

1. Denial

"I'm NOT related to you."

2. Anger

"I'm related to YOU?"

3. Bargaining

"Okay, I'm related to you . . . but only by marriage."

4. Depression

"You mean I am related to you?"

5. Acceptance

"I guess I am related to you."

RECIPE SEARCH

If you are ever looking for a recipe - that one you can no longer find, or you are just wanting to be adventurous and are looking for ideas - then the BBCi website:

(CLICK ON THIS LINK TO VISIT)

offers an excellent starting point. You can search for recommendations in many different categories, or you can receive advice and guidance on healthy eating, international cuisine, vegetarianism and a host of other subjects. Many of the leading food stores offer a similar Recipe Search function.

By popular request, I now include on this website a daily-changing 'Themes Familiar' RECIPE.
A new recommendation will appear below each and every day. I hope these will serve to whet your appetites.

What can make a web page annoying...

top 5% award

Here are a few reasons why a page may be considered annoying...

· The Colors DON'T go together!
· The text is HARD TO READ because of the colors and size!
· The page background is fussy, has distracting colours, and MAY form a 3D image if stared at for a long period of time.
· Excessive use of horizontal rules.
· Horizontal rules are VERY WIDE.
· Table uses WIDE border
. · The Title of the page has annoying characters in it!
· Don't worry, I will make this page more annoying *IF* possible.

This Section of this 'Themes Familiar' page, with its flowery background and indistinct print, may well qualify for:

The Top 5% of Web Sites!
( That gave our judges permanent headaches! )
AWARD

(as in the above placard which spins too quickly to read !!!)

I hope that the rest of my website is more viewer-friendly.
If not, I apologise and claim inadequacy.
