SilentPC Time line

April 2004  - Lewi buys a new PC and leaves me his old MSI based 1Ghz machine

29/04/2004 - I ask on CIX if anyone has a spare 1 K/w heat-sink

05/05/2004 - two perfect heat-sinks arrive courtesy of Bill Hall

11/05/2004 - first pictures of completed conversion  are uploaded to web site.

12/05/2004 - measurements of the HDD temperature raise concerns, prompting research into gel-pack cooling

27/06/2004 - emails exchanged with Mike at silentpcreview.com about adding the project to his site.

10/07/2004 -  The zipfile sent to Mike containing pictures and text of project disappears in to the ether.

14/03/2005 - IBM HDD replaced with Segate ST340810

23/10/2006 - Mike at silentpcreview.com sees this timeline, checks his email archive and, realising he never received the file, invites me to re-submit the project.

25/10/2006 - An updated file is sent to Mike

26/10/2006 - Two and half years after the start of the project, it is finally listed on the famous SPCR  site (Thanks Mike! Nice work  :) )

13/03/2007 - Swapped the quiet but slow Segate drive with the 7200rpm 120GB WD HDD from the PVR (SilentPC will now become my archive file server).

24/02/2008 - Major update. Motherboard replaced with a Gigabyte  GA8-SIML running a 2.53Ghz P4.  Power supply replaced with the 200w unit from the PVR project.

04/03/2008 - A large heat-sink keeps the CPU’s temperature under control . The silentP4 2.5Ghz P4 becomes a reality.
