Terrestrial receiver cards (July 2003)
The Hauppauge Nova-T was one of the first digital receiver cards available. This latest version is supplied with a simple remote control.

The card installed without any problems and worked pretty much as advertised. The software's a bit clunky and has a few odd bugs, but it can record, display and time shift without too many glitches.

Initially the cpu was continuously at 100% but, after tweaking as suggested in the FAQ (800x600 16bit graphics etc.) it hovers around the 95% mark. (I can tweak up the processor speed with out increasing it's temperature too much so, I can gain a few percent more if necessary). Usefully, the software has a kill display mode which allows it to record without too much CPU intervention.

The Hauppauge software is very PC orientated and not well suited to PVR use (i.e. it displays a window while recording, if you close the window it stops recording). Hopefully, they will sort out the display bugs; e.g.  select full wide screen and after a second or so, the display goes tall and narrow with bars on the sides.
