Southbourne are currently ranked in the top 25 clubs Nationally. That's not bad considering we only entered 4 of the 8 events in 2002. In 2003 we hope to improve our standing and break into the top 20 with the top 15 (or even top 10) in our sights within 5 years.

Competitions are split into 4 main age categories with additional age groups within 3 of these.

Category	Ages	Age groups
Nippers	7 to 12 year olds	U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13
Youth	12 to 18 year olds	U13, U14, U15, U16, U18
Open	15 and Over
Masters	Over 30	30-34, 35-39, 40-44 etc.

All ages are as of 1st January.

There are Ocean and Stillwater (pool) events in all age groups.

In addition to these there are specialist competitions for Surf Boats and IRBs.
