The procedures outlined below are designed as a quick reference to make sure exams can be run efficiently. They do not supercede the procedures outlined by the SLSA of GB. The full procedures, conditions and fees are available from the SLSA of GB web site.

The procedures on this page are written from the instructor Assessor's point of view.

bulletBeach Lifeguard/IRB Only
bulletComplete ‘SLSA Course Registration Form 2005’ & send to SLSA Head Office together with fees for all those on the list who are non-members. (In the case of affiliated Clubs, where all candidates are members of SLSA, no payment is required at this stage). This should be done at least 4 weeks before the start of the course!!
bulletAll Exams

Make contact with the RLSO to arrange a suitable examination date and then complete ‘SLSA Examination Application Forms’ in triplicate.

bullet

Check with all of the successful candidates of the Beach Lifeguard & Emergency Aid 2 awards on the day of the examination, to see if they wish to purchase the ‘First Aid Appointed Persons’ certificate. All THREE copies are then completed where FA certificates are required.

Send to SLSA HQ the WHITE COPY of the completed EAF (to arrive at SLSA HQ within 3 months of the examination date) with:
bullet Appropriate fees where required to include fees for ‘First Aid Appointed Persons’ certificates where necessary.

bulletRetain the GREEN COPY of the EAF for their records

Assessor.
bullet

Prior to the start of the assessment, the Assessor must receive from the Instructor ALL THREE COPIES of the Examination Application Form correctly completed.

NO exam must be started without the Assessor being in possession of all three correctly completed copies of the Examination Application Form.

bullet

On completion of the examination ensure ALL three copies of the Exam Application Form are suitably endorsed with the result and Assessors names and signatures.

Immediately send the completed PINK COPY of the ‘SLSA Examination Form’ to the Regional Life Saving Officer for their records.

bullet Sports award
bulletThe sports specific awards may be examined 'in house' as long as the examiner has not instructed the candidates. 48 hours notice must be given to the RLSO.
bulletThe awards may be assessed by a qualified assessor or a Level 2 Coach assessor.
bulletThe Surf Life Saving award may be assessed by a qualified assessor or a Level 2 Coach assessor who has attended a Regional update.
