The Golf Croquet Ranking System started purely as an in-house system for players within the UK. However where overseas players were involved in tournaments which were input to the system, all results were included in the ranking calculations but overseas players were not shown in any final listings. Towards the end of 2001, the CA Ranking Officer agreed with the WCF (World Croquet Federation) that the system would be suitable for expansion to a world-wide basis and that he would undertake the expansion. Regrettably a major force in the Golf Croquet world , the Egyptian Croquet Federation has decided that it does not want to participate in the system and plans to enlarge the system to a full world wide basis have been put on hold. However other countries have been willing to continue submitting results of tournaments in their areas, and they have been entered into the system to build up a database of golf croquet players that would be very helpful if a full world system is established at a later date. A ranking list based on all the data submitted but subject to specified criteria will be regularly published and is described as an "International Ranking" It will be noted that a number of Egyptian players are included in the listings as many have played in events outside Egypt especially the World Championships. Countries at present regularly contributing results are Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the United States, South Africa and Australia and New Zealand.
The Ranking Officer accepts that due to the limited data, the international rankings may not truly reflect a players ability relative to those at the very top level.
Any queries on this system should be taken up with the CA Ranking Officer, Bill Arliss on bill.arliss@ntlworld.com. All players are asked to read the 'notes on results submission' and in particular the part on names of competitors which has caused several problems in the past.
I would ask all players ands particularly those who submit results to please read the notes on the site. If the few simple requirements are met, it will make my task as Ranking Officer much easier and updates will appear regularly.
LATEST UPDATES
This list includes the European
Team Championship, the European Championship, the GC Veterans, the GC Inter Counties, the Norwegian Open,
The Swedish Championship, the Musk Cup and two inter club games plus the
Belgian Championship
Please note that tournaments in which there is a significant lower handicap limit will not be accepted for ranking purposes. If there is any handicap limit at all, please specify when submitting the results. The Ranking Officer will decide whether the results are included in the system or not and if included whether a lower weighting should be applied.
