From Me To You
This is the process of how I create my artwork.
It all starts with ideas and rough sketches, and then when I am happy with them, I will make a detailed drawing. I will work on the drawing, changing things that don't work. Then when I am happy with that I will trace my original drawing and transfer it to cannson card that will leave a fine pencil outline on the paper. I start to build the picture with coloured pencils and gradually build up layers. You can see this as you click through the pictures of the process involved.
I love the way the picture comes to life as I do fine shade and put more and more detail into it.
The trouble is knowing when to stop and not get carried away, because you can overwork a picture as well as underwork it. I think it comes with practice, though it comes down to personal choice. I have overworked and underworked pictures, I know what it's like.
