These photographs were all taken by Sarah,
for a photography project entitled "The Urban Envirnment",
during the Spring of 2002. They were all taken in and around the
Northern Quarter of Manchester.
The area has escaped the recent regeneration projects that have
transformed much of the city centre, thus eradicating many the old
monuments to the dark, bleakness that was the reality of one of
the greatest influences to mould the city - The Industrial Revolution.
Yet this is an area equally associated with urbanism for its gritty
industrial facade as it is for the rich variety of shops that it
contains and musical influences generated through its live music
venues and the Festival.
