TASKER PAGE

Looking through some family papers I found some photographs of my paternal grandparents, whom I never met, and these are reproduced below.

The originals I have are postcard size, and bear sequential photographer’s reference numbers together with the date 22 August 1931.

The photographer was “Geoffreys" of 11 Boar Lane Leeds.

Other documents I have suggest that my Grandparents were living at 37 Carlton Street, Woodhouse Lane, Leeds 2.
Grandfather was born  on 22 December 1872 at  4 Meanwood Street, Leeds the son of John Tasker and Mary Jane Tasker, formerly Peniston.  At that time John Tasker 's occupation was descibed as a Butcher.

Grandmother was born on 12 June 1877 in Bootle, Cumberland.

They married on 21 December 1903 in Calabra, Bombay, India.

Here are two photographs showing my own father John (Jack) Tasker, that I have just found (August 2005).

The first, with the cycle, is dated 14 June 1930, by Geoffreys of Boar Lane.  This was a few days before his eighth birthday - perhaps the cycle was an early birthday present.  The second, with his father, has no information with it, but I guess it must have been a couple of years earlier.  Note the hat and cap on the ground.

Both the dates mentioned on this page are Saturdays, probably the only time available to visit the photographers.
