Various forms of collage and montage are apparent in Benjamin's art practise. This can be juxtaposing images, text or materials; adding and taking away; with a direct message or more enigmatic and open to interpretation. This visual 'cut-and-paste' planned improvisation has parallels in some of the music and sound projects which Benjamin has been involved in with other members of san.

This selection of images comes from a one-off set of reprographic collages
which Benjamin produced in 1998, in the format of a 16 page portfolio
booklet. Produced by copying various objects and media source material
onto the same sheet of paper, the results are a chaotic juxtaposition
full of intriguing threads, mis-matches, connections and zeitgeists. There
is humour in the title's weakly aggressive provocation, denying any attempt
at a theme or message; but it also a suggests something animalistic and
primal at the root of these chance compositions.
