At the heart of our life as a community of people seeking to follow Jesus are our two Sunday services. Although the church gathers at different times during the week for various activities, these are the times when we all come together. As a community we are committed to being inclusive - we believe that God loves all people no matter who they are, where they are from, what if anything they do for a living - and welcome anyone to join us. Our services, although structured, are informal. There is no need to dress in a special way, come as you are comfortable, and feel appropriate.
about our morning services | about our evening services
Our Morning Service is held at Wormley Community Centre, Fairfield Drive, at 10.30am (see how to find us for details of where this is.)
This is the larger of our services and takes place in two sections. During the first part of the service we stay together for a period of all-age worship. This consists of songs, prayers and maybe a short child appropriate talk. At about 11am the children and youth leave us for their own activities (see here for details). The adults stay at the Community Centre for a period of adult orientated worship including a talk based on the Bible. After this coffee and tea are served as we get a chance to get to know each other better. The service usually finishes between 11.45-12, but people often stay and talk until 1pm.
On the first Sunday in the month we have an All-Age Service. Rather than splitting into different groups, we remain together throughout the service. This is important to us as we believe we are called to be a family. This service has a much more interactive feel to it as we seek to engage everyone in worship in ways that are meaningful to them.
On the second Sunday of the month we celebrate Communion as part of the service, usually after the children have left and the talk. This is a simple act of remembrance that was instituted by Jesus himself. We share bread and wine to remind us that Jesus died for us so that thorough placing our faith in him we can have a relationship with his Father and receive the gift of eternal life. The bread reminds us of Jesus' body broken on the Cross where he was executed and the wine reminds us of his blood shed.
(We don't use real wine, instead, mindful of those who have alcohol related problems, we use blackcurrant juice.)
Our Evening Service is held at Wormley Free Church, Slipe Lane, at 6pm (see how to find us for details of where this is). This service usually ends between 7.15-7.30pm, and like the morning service is followed by tea and coffee.
Due to the time, this service is mainly attended by adults, and so it has a different feel to the morning. Being at our building in Slipe Lane, it is more intimate in setting and has a reflective nature. Like the morning it is made up of songs, prayers, readings from the Bible and a talk.
On the last Sunday of every month, we celebrate communion as part of the service.
