Waltham Abbey's Gunpowder People
A comprehensive study of the people involved
in the local gunpowder industry over several centuries. The site in the
Town and that at Sewardstone Mills are both discussed in great detail.
This is the first of a projected series of
papers on the local gunpowder industry, which was to have been produced
as a joint project between WAHS and the Gunpowder Mills Museum, aiming
eventually to produce a Name Archive of Waltham Abbey gunpowder workers.
Unfortunately the project foundered
when most of the Gunpowder Mills Museum staff were made redundant in
2002; the extensive research notes which then existed were
salvaged and collated into this Millennium Project.
Includes various maps, tables,
family trees, lists of people, etc., and a bibliography. 169 A4 pages in green folder.
