The Diary of William Roberts Clark

A transcript of the fascinating diary-cum-notebook kept by local farmer, publican, builder and public servant, William R. Clark (1817-1889), from 1856 until his death.

Full of items of local and national news, this diary also contains much valuable material on the well-established Clark families of Waltham Abbey.

Additional material has been written to place the diary in local and periodic context, including extensive research on the Clark families.

Numerous illustrations, lists, old views and family trees, with a large-scale map of the town centre's properties and their owners, dating from 1826, reprinted on four loose A3 sheets.

143 A4 pages plus 4 folded A3 maps in green folder.
