About Amici

Amici (Italian for friends) is one of North-West England's newest, brightest ensembles. This polished collection of singers and instrumentalists undertakes works which are established in the choral repertoire as well as less well-known a cappella choral music from the Renaissance to the present day.

Under the leadership of their founding Musical Director Raymond Lomax, the choir first came together in December 1995 when it performed Handel's Messiah. Since then, Amici have appeared in concert throughout the region (and further afield in Cambridgeshire) performing works with soloists from Welsh National Opera and Opera North, as well as musicians from the BBC Philharmonic.

Amici are now firmly established as one of the North-West's leading chamber ensembles. Amici have appeared regularly at Lyme Hall (Lyme Park, Cheshire) and made their TV debut in March 1998 in BBC TV's "Lent in the Park" series. Amici have since then appeared on BBC Television in the series "Lent in the Park" and also on BBC1 in "Songs of Praise", and provided music to two programmes for ITV's "Sunday Morning" series in June 2001. Amici have recorded sacred choral music including John Rutter's "The Lord is my Shepherd" plus numerous hymns for Granada TV's "My Favourite Hymns" series, broadcast throughout 2002.

Amici perform with anything from 8 to 24 singers and have their own (chamber) orchestra. This versatile ensemble can offer music to suit any occasion, from formal concerts to weddings or dinner dances.

Please note that there are photograph opportunities at all events.
